Rideshare Driver Accident Reporting Policy

Effective Date: July 5, 2025

Applies To: All Ritugo drivers operating on the Ritugo platform in Utah (and any additional jurisdictions where Ritugo expands, subject to local law review).



1. Policy Overview

Ritugo is committed to ensuring the safety of drivers, passengers, and the public. This policy establishes clear procedures for accident reporting, documentation, and compliance with Utah state law and applicable federal regulations.

Prompt and accurate reporting is required to support safety response, insurance coverage, and regulatory compliance.



2. Immediate Reporting Requirements

In accordance with Utah Code §41-6a-401, drivers must immediately notify law enforcement if an accident results in:

  • Injury or death of any person

  • Property damage exceeding $2,500

Failure to comply with state reporting requirements may result in legal penalties, including fines or criminal charges.



3. Accident Documentation

Drivers involved in an accident must:

  • Exchange insurance and registration information with all involved parties

  • Obtain names and contact information of witnesses

  • Document the scene with photographs, including:

    • Vehicle damage

    • License plates

    • Road and weather conditions

  • Avoid admitting fault or making statements implying liability



4. Reporting to Ritugo

Drivers must report all accidents to Ritugo within 24 hours using one of the following methods:

  • Mobile App: Accident Report feature (when available)

  • Email: brian@ritugo.com

  • Phone: +1 801 644 7456

Reports must include all available documentation and a detailed account of the incident.



5. Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) Reporting

If law enforcement does not respond to an accident involving injury, death, or property damage exceeding $2,500, the driver must submit an accident report to the Utah Department of Public Safety within 10 days, as required by state law.



6. Insurance Coverage & Liability

Ritugo maintains insurance coverage structured as follows:

  • App OFF: Driver’s personal insurance applies

  • App ON, No Ride Accepted: Limited company coverage applies

  • Ride Accepted or Passenger Onboard: Ritugo’s primary liability policy applies, subject to policy limits

Drivers are encouraged to maintain personal insurance that meets or exceeds state minimums.




7. Non-Compliance & Consequences

Failure to adhere to this policy may result in:

  • Suspension or termination of platform access

  • Denial of insurance coverage where applicable

  • Legal action, including potential civil or criminal liability



8. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in law, insurance requirements, or operational standards.
