Fleet & Driver Safety Policy
Effective Date: July 5, 2025
Applies To: All Ritugo-employed and independent contractor drivers operating on the Ritugo platform in Utah (and any additional jurisdictions where Ritugo expands, subject to local law review).
1. Purpose
This policy establishes uniform safety, screening, inspection, training, monitoring, and enforcement standards for Ritugo drivers and vehicles. The objective is to reduce risk to passengers and the public, ensure compliance with applicable federal and Utah state law, and protect company assets and reputation.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
All drivers operating rides or company-authorized trips through the Ritugo platform
All vehicles used for Ritugo services, whether driver-owned or company-owned
All safety-related conduct occurring while logged into the Ritugo platform or performing services
3. Driver Eligibility & Pre-Hire Requirements
3.1 Age & Licensing
Drivers must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license issued by their state of residence
Drivers must meet any applicable state minimum age requirements
Ritugo may impose higher minimum age thresholds for higher-risk roles
3.2 Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Review
Ritugo reviews certified MVRs covering at least the prior 3–7 years
Disqualifying items may include:
Two (2) or more preventable at-fault collisions within three (3) years
Major violations such as DUI/DWI, reckless driving, hit-and-run within seven (7) to ten (10) years
License suspension or revocation within the past three (3) years
3.3 Criminal Background Check & Identity Verification
Drivers must pass a criminal background check conducted through an accredited vendor
Fingerprint-based checks may be required where permitted or mandated by law
Screening follows FCRA consent and adverse-action procedures where applicable
3.4 Right-to-Work & Legal Eligibility
Drivers must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Any permits required for passenger transport must be obtained and maintained
3.5 Medical & Drug / Alcohol Screening
Ritugo may require post-offer drug and alcohol screening
Post-incident testing may be required following accidents or safety incidents
DOT/FMCSA testing rules apply where legally required
4. Vehicle Requirements & Inspections
Vehicle eligibility, documentation, and inspection standards are governed by Ritugo’s Vehicle Requirements & Inspection Policy, which is incorporated by reference into this policy.
Drivers must maintain vehicles in safe operating condition and comply with inspection schedules at all times.
5. On-Road Safety Rules & Training
5.1 Distracted Driving
Texting while driving is strictly prohibited
Handheld device use while driving is prohibited except for emergency use
Drivers must comply with Ritugo’s Distracted Driving Policy
5.2 Seat Belts & Passenger Safety
Drivers must ensure all passengers use seat belts as required by law
Drivers must refuse service where child restraint requirements cannot be met
5.3 Impairment & Fitness for Duty
Drivers must not operate vehicles while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or impairing medication
DUI/DWI convictions must be reported to Ritugo within 24–48 hours
Failure to report may result in immediate suspension
5.4 Defensive Driving & De-Escalation Training
Drivers must complete Ritugo safety training prior to activation
Annual refresher training may be required
Training includes defensive driving and passenger de-escalation techniques
5.5 Hours of Service & Fatigue Management
Ritugo discourages excessive consecutive driving
Drivers must adhere to company-defined maximum shift lengths
Drivers must take breaks and monitor fatigue
6. Insurance & Financial Responsibility
6.1 Driver Insurance
Drivers must maintain personal auto insurance meeting or exceeding Utah minimums
Additional rideshare coverage may be required
Drivers must notify insurers of for-hire vehicle use where required
6.2 Company Vehicles
Company-owned or operated vehicles must carry appropriate commercial insurance
Proof of coverage is retained as required by law
7. Incident Reporting, Investigation & Corrective Action
7.1 Reporting Requirements
Crashes involving injury or tow: report within 1 hour
Minor incidents: report within 24 hours
Police reports must be provided when applicable
7.2 Investigation
Ritugo may investigate incidents using:
MVR reviews
Telematics or app data
Dashcam footage
Witness statements
7.3 Corrective Action
Corrective measures may include:
Retraining
Probation
Temporary suspension
Permanent deactivation
Serious violations may result in immediate deactivation.
8. Monitoring & Telematics
Ritugo may use telematics, app telemetry, and monitoring tools to assess safety performance. Drivers will be notified of monitoring practices, and data will be used solely for safety, compliance, and operational purposes.
Drivers may not disable or tamper with monitoring systems.
9. Accessibility & Non-Discrimination
Ritugo complies with applicable anti-discrimination laws and provides reasonable accommodations where required. Drivers are trained to provide respectful and lawful service to all passengers.
10. Recordkeeping & Audits
Driver records, including screening, inspections, training, and incident reports, are retained in accordance with applicable law. Ritugo may conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance.
11. Enforcement & Discipline
Noncompliance with this policy may result in progressive discipline up to and including permanent deactivation. Safety violations are enforced consistently and without exception.
12. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary to reflect legal, regulatory, or operational changes.
